Sarasota Spring Break 2011
Spring 2011's mini-Reunion in Florida; bigger/better than ever
Another spring of great weather, beautiful surroundings, and hangin' out with
lots of '60 Warriors
The 2011 spring Sarasota gathering - a.k.a. Ken's Party in Paradise - chalked up a record
attendance. Over 60 people participated this year, and thoroughly enjoyed
themselves. Headquarters was the same as last year, the Tropical Breeze Resort on
Siesta Key in Sarasota. Festivities spanned May 5th - 8th, beginning just after noon
on Thursday with a welcome BBQ, and concluding with a Sunday morning good-bye breakfast.
Our headquarters and hospitality area was again the Pool House, centrally located on the
Tropical Breeze compound. (It's in the triangular area just right of center on the
Property Map above.) And Warriors occupied the majority of the units in the area.
We will be going back in 2012, and Tropical Breeze is taking reservations now! So
don't put this on your calendar and forget about it until a few weeks before the
event. Make that reservation as soon as you've decided to go. DO NOT BOOK
ON-LINE. Talk with Jessica, the contact for group reservations, at 800-300-2492 and
mention Wakefield High School or Ken Scruggs to get our special rates.
The official start of Sarasota 2011 was around noon on Thursday, although some had
arrived a day or more earlier to cram in a little more R&R. Thursday was just an
afternoon of relaxing after travel, and enjoying the company of other '60 Warriors (and
spouses, partners, etc) not seen for a while (decades in some cases).
Dinner out at a landmark once again
For the first night's dinner, we again went to Captain Brian's. It's not flashy,
and it's not expensive, but it's tasty - and it's the way eating out on a getaway with
friends should be.
