Dear Mr. Lyons:
I reviewed the Wakefield High School alumni website and saw the memoriam page. I am
the executor of my father's probate estate and I believe there was no obituary published
regarding my father. For your convenience, here is a short summary of my father's
life for publication on the Wakefield High School website:
"Douglas P. Scott - December 28, 1942 - May 30,2012
Doug Scott was born in Washington, D.C. on December 28, 1942, and grew up in South
Arlington attending Barcroft Elementary School and graduating from Wakefield High School
in 1960. After graduating from high school, he earned a B.A. in Economics from
George Washington University ("GWU") in 1964, an M.A. in Philosophy in 1969, and

He married Jo Anne W. Scott (nee Winney) on September 17, 1966 at the Arlington
Presbyterian Church on Columbia Pike, and was married to her for the next 40 years until
her death on September 18, 2006. He loved his wife very much and never recovered
from her death. Their marriage produced two children. He lived in Arlington
until March of 1970 when he purchased a home in Annandale, Virginia where he lived until
his death 42 years later.
He began his career as a U.S. civil servant in 1961 with U.S. Postal Service, rose quickly
through the civilian federal workforce reaching GS-15 in 1975, and retired as a GS-15 with
the Federal Emergency Management Agency at the end of 2004.
He is survived by his brother, David L. Scott (Wakefield High School Class of 1962), of
Arlington, Virginia; his former brother-in-law, Justin W. Winney, Jr. (Wakefield High
School Class of 1968), of Jackson Hole, Wyoming; his son, Christopher D. Scott of
Arlington, Virginia; his daughter, Cordia V. Hennaman of Chesterfield County, Virginia;
and six grandchildren."
I would be interested in talking to anyone who remembers my father from his days at
Wakefield High School. Thank you for taking the trouble to keep the alumni website
