Francis M. Campbell, 96, of Sarasota, Florida, formerly of Oil City, Pennsylvania
and Arlington, Virginia, died on July 4, 2014. A private family service will be
held. Funeral arrangements by: Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife Elizabeth, stepsons, Dr. Brad Stith (Ellen) of Gainesville, FL,
Greg Stith (Stacy) of Sarasota, FL and a step-daughter, Debby (Larry) of Greenville, S.C.,
also nephews, Ron Campbell, James Campbell and niece, Cathy Danzer.
Francis earned a B.S. degree in Education, and M.A. Degree and Ed.D from Indiana
University of Pennsylvania, George Washington University, D.C. and American University,
D.C. respectively. He was a longtime member of the American Psychological
Association, Division 17, and Counseling Psychologists.
He was a USAF veteran of WWII. He served in both the European and Pacific theatres
as a Fighter Controller. (Radar) He served as Captain with sixteen years active
Reserve time. Francis was awarded a Bronze Star and Three Battlestars.
His first wife, Marietta Settle of Oil City, Pennsylvania, preceded him in death in 1975.
