Milo Wilcox Sonen died on February 19, 2008, age 93, of Silver
Spring, Maryland. Beloved husband of Virginia Sonen; devoted father of Jon Wilcox
Sonen, Walter Stewart Sonen and Bonnie Fields Sonen (a.k.a. Skookums Sonnenschein); dear
brother of the late Robert Wlcox; loving grandfather of Mailo Sonen, Jon Sonen, Tom J.
Rollman, Suzy Rollman Wide, Trevor Rollman, Levi Rollman and Anna-Noel Sonnenschein and
dear great-grandfather of Brenna Rollman, Bryson Rollman, Brooklyn Rollman, Ella Rollman,
Carson Wilde, Mailo Sonen, Megan Sonen and Mia Sonen. Milo was born June 22, 1914,
and raised in Washington, DC where he had perfect attendance throughout his public school
years. A graduate of the University of Maryland, he was a noted track star. An
educator for 33 years, he taught at Swanson Junior High in Arlington, Virginia, was
Athletic Superintendent of Arlington County Public Schools for four years and was then
Vice Principal and Athletic Director at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Spencerville Seventh Day
Adventist Church, New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland. Arrangements are
with Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, Sykesville, Maryland.
