Wakefield High School
Welcome to our web site, dedicated to alumni, staff, and friends of Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia

The Wakefield Education Foundation, a non-profit charity group established by Wakefield alumni in 1986 and also run by volunteers, has one primary goal:
To provide scholarships to
graduating Wakefield students
Currently, the Foundation has awarded 196 scholarships and has committed or paid out $966,669 to Wakefield students and teachers!
One part of the Foundation is the Alumni Committee, which works to:
  • Connect alumni, staff, and friends of Wakefield to the school and each other
  • Preserve the history of Wakefield
  • Maintain contact information on staff, alumni, and friends
  • Assist classes with events
  • Create and support social opportunities for alumni
  • Establish and perpetuate the Wakefield Hall of Fame
  • Support the Wakefield Education Foundation

News

What’s happening with the Wakefield High School project?

New high school design

Funds from the 2008 bond will be used to advance the Wakefield project through the remaining design phases, culminating with the completion of the final construction documents in late 2010. The cost estimate for this project will be developed and refined with the completion of the design. Construction is slated to begin in late 2013 or early 2014. Events

1956 - Local Northern Virginia classmates from the class of 1956 meet from time to time at the Tyson's Corner Olive Garden. The normal time is a week night at 7:00 PM. Everyone is welcome including other classes.


1961 - The Class of ‘61 is now beginning to plan their 50-year event. See the class page for details.
1962 - The Class of ‘62 is now looking forward to the 50-year event and are looking for volunteers to help plan it.
1970 The Class of 1970 is busy planning their 40th (!) reunion, which will take place July 31, 2010. Details will be posted on the website: www.wakefieldclassof1970.com/index/mn11709/40th_Reunion. They hope to see many of their classmates there! "
1980 - The Class of '80 has announced the date for their 30th Reunion Weekend - July 30 - August 1, 2010. See their web page for more information.


1990 - The Class of '90 has announced the date for their 20th Reunion Weekend - July 30 - August 1, 2010. See their class page for more information.
